Domain Parking – Netfleet Domain Blog https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog Netfleet.com.au | The .AU Aftermarket Tue, 26 Sep 2017 03:26:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.3 Domain Name Sales Activity – 30th January to 12th February https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-sales-activity-30th-january-to-12th-february/ Sun, 12 Feb 2017 20:51:07 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1555 As we rounded out January and began the new month, premium domain sales have shown little sign of slowing down. Following on from the seven names that featured in our last list, this time another four entrants found themselves the story of the last fortnight.

A standout winner and a fantastic name in its own right, diy.com.au was registered for a total of $7,309.45. Securing the name was a sole trader who currently operates diyaustralia.com, one of the nation’s most prominent suppliers for a range of custom made kitchens. Not only is this short acronym one of the most recognisable and memorable names possible, but it aligns with the company’s existing branding.

The name is also ambiguous enough to attract web traffic from customers not directly looking for kitchens, which provides an opportunity to reach new audiences. Australians are continually embracing DIY practices, corroborated by Google Trend which illustrates a steady increase in search interest over time. Looking at the site under construction, it appears the business may opt to expand its operations into other DIY-related areas such as bathrooms, wardrobes and blinds.

Another powerful name makes its way into the top results, with trust.com.au taking out the silver medal. The name is one that has a broad level of appeal, while also offering attractive branding prospects. A trust company for a digital product developer has acquired the name for $5,384.45, likely to be on behalf of one of its current or prospective clients. End users are most likely to include businesses that operate across a raft of services industries, as well as other customer-related businesses looking for a brand name with impact.

Next to feature, investorsclub.com.au traded hands with a price of $1,149.95. This time it’s a little more difficult to see an immediate link between the registrant’s existing operations and the domain in question. However, reviewing the new domain it appears the name will be treated as an investment as it is currently parked with links to related advertisements. Potential end users for this domain may be financial services companies, or perhaps businesses focusing on other specific asset classes for investments such as property brokers.

The last name to feature was also taken out by a digital support services business. In this instance, the name in question is promotionalitems.com.au, with a price tag of $1,096.65 linked to the deal. As a descriptive name, the domain serves well in terms of advising prospective clients about the nature of the site. While a variety of end users could be interested in the name, the most appeal could very well come from retailers – perhaps best suited to a discount detailer who specialises in promotional products.

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Best wishes,

Domain Name Sales Activity – 19th September to 25th September https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-sales-activity-19th-september-to-25th-september/ Sun, 25 Sep 2016 16:27:36 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1185 Another week has seen Netfleet involved in the exchange of four premium domain names. This week saw a variety of names break the $1,000 mark – from keywords for services and products, to a short punchy name, and there was even a two letter name which changed hands. Here are the details.

Our highest selling domain for the week went to chic.com.au, which was acquired on the 22nd of September by a private domain name investor for the sum of $1,404.65. The investor in question has opted to park and advertise the domain for resale. With the short, recognisable and punchy nature of the name, it could be well suited among end users who operate within the design or fashion industries, and perhaps those with an emphasis towards arts and crafts.

Courtesy of a steady trend in terms of Google search traffic, and what appears to be an annual spike each mid-to-late May, having several target markets positions the new owner favourably to turn the domain for a profit.

In second place, yx.com.au was acquired by City Auto Pty Ltd for $1,369.45. In what appears to be another domain name investment, the name is also being advertised for sale. Two letter domains are not commonly available, however when they do sell, they tend to command a higher price due to the short nature of their name and use as an abbreviation. Whether “yx” will be able to fulfil this purpose remains to be seen, but we’ll be keeping an eye out.

Next up, one business owner was fortunate to scope out an ideal name for their business, securing exteriorpainting.com.au. The new owner in question is Pacific Building Services Pty Ltd, a construction company specialising in a wide scope of construction services and who provide building contractors for Sydney customers.

This is a complementary name with strong keywords that will either point to the company’s existing business, or stand alone as a separate website. Search traffic for the term “exterior painting” is fairly unpredictable, with traffic thus far coming from the eastern states – most prominently, Queensland. The domain was purchased for the modest sum of $1,259.45.

The last of the four premium domain names to sell during the week was vinyl.com.au. Purchased by The Trustee for Rocket Records Trust, the domain has been activated straight away and points towards the associated business’ existing domain, vinyldestination.com.au. As you may have guessed, Vinyl Destination’s primary business involves retail sales of vinyl LPs and records to the public.

The business notes a resurgence in the demand for vinyl records, and Google search trends back this up with a significant upwards trend across the last five years. The keyword domain is one that is sure to boost web traffic to the business’ website, and for $1,167.05, this could be one of those success stories we’ll hear more about in the future!

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Domain Name Sales Activity – 12th September to 18th September https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/domain-name-sales-activity-12th-september-to-18th-september/ Sun, 18 Sep 2016 23:07:10 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=1163 This edition of our premium domain name sales report involves four names that were acquired during the last week.

First up, and taking its place at the top of the highest selling domains for the week, was perthpodiatry.com.au. Selling on the 11th of September for $4,009.45, the domain now sits with Lee A. Gray and Associates Pty Ltd. The business is in fact a large, longstanding podiatry practice operating in the Western Australian suburb of Booragoon.

Currently, said business is trading as The Perth Foot and Ankle Clinic, using perthfootankle.com.au as its domain name. This new name however, will offer the business significant flexibility in terms of leads from keyword searches – something we’ll cover in one of our upcoming educational articles.

As a business, it’s always a sound idea to utilise geographic keywords, and it’s even better when you can incorporate the product or service you offer as well! Even if the owner chooses to retain the existing domain which is aligned with their trading name, this new name can point towards it and capture previously unrealised traffic.

Our next highest selling domain for the week ending 18th September was vibrators.com.au. While the name speaks for itself, we shouldn’t overlook the memorable nature of the keyword. Not only is it short but it’s also based on a product. Google Trends analysis would appear to suggest the term has a stable search pattern, which means consistent leads. Accompanied by a modest Domain Authority score of 14, SEO practices and commercial use should see this rise pretty quickly. Having said that, the new registrant is a domain name investor no doubt looking to top the $3,227.35 they paid for it.

On the 13th of September we were involved in the sale of bbqsonline.com.au for $1,149.45.This was a business purchase picked up by G.L.G. Australia Pty Limited, a large NSW-based company who mainly deal with outdoor leisure products. While normally an abbreviated name like ‘bbqs’ could lead to a sense of confusion amongst customers who type the longer term, this is a commonly accepted local abbreviation. Furthermore, any confusion can be mitigated through a strong marketing campaign, particularly in the summer months where the trend suggests stronger web traffic.

Concluding our list, popcake.com.au takes out fourth spot. Certainly one to join the list of unique names, the domain was purchased by Popcake International Pty Ltd. Now, if you’re like me, and wondering what popcake might be, it’s “the world’s first fully-automatic counter-top pancake making machine”. But it shouldn’t come as a surprise. The company has been operating for over 25 years and is located in a multitude of countries across the globe.

For its local operations, the company was previously using popcake.com as its domain. A local domain will now avoid confusion with customer search queries, while also emphasising the nature of the business’ local operations – particularly since it was founded here! We always recommend you capture the major TLD variants of your name if you run an international business, and we’re glad to see that’s been put into practice here.

That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.

Snapped Domains – Default Name Servers https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/domain-snapper/snapped-domains-default-name-servers/ Thu, 15 Dec 2011 06:06:41 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=547 We wanted to inform you that we have developed a default landing page for all domain names registered via the Snapper Auctions.

Once a domain name is snapped, the domain will point to this landing page using Netfleet name servers automatically, whereby visitors will be given an explanation of the page, and the ability to register an interest in the domain name, and make an unsolicited offer for the domain.

Upon receiving an offer via this method, you will be notified and can decide whether to respond.

To see an example of this page in action, please click the following link:

http://100milecafe.com.au/

Of course, you can change the default name servers for your snapped domains any time you wish, by changing the name servers in the Members Area under Account Information

Please note, this is live now and will take effect on all future snapped domain names. Furthermore, as this is an initiative from Netfleet, this is no way implies that you have registered this domain name for the sole purpose of resale.

As always, we appreciate any feedback you have on this latest development

Best wishes,
