Aftermarket Auctions – Netfleet Domain Blog https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog Netfleet.com.au | The .AU Aftermarket Tue, 26 Sep 2017 03:26:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.3 Important Changes to our Auction format https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/important-changes-to-auction/ https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/important-changes-to-auction/#comments Fri, 11 Oct 2013 01:29:52 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=969 We have been experimenting with different auction formats over the past few weeks in order to find the best solution format for selling domain names. On 21st October we will trial first price sealed bid auctions. In short, we will not show any prices on our auction platform, with all bids being fixed offers (being the price you enter [plus the buyers premium] will be the price paid – there will not be a proxy bidding system), and at the end of auction the highest offer wins. We will also be setting BIN prices on a selection of domain names. These will be set before that day’s auction starts, similar to eBay’s ‘Buy it Now or Best Offer’ option, giving everyone an equal chance at buying the domain for the BIN price.

If two offers for the same price are made by different clients, the first client to make that offer will be elected the winner. The same goes for whoever hits the BIN price first.

What this means is you will no longer need to monitor the bidding all day – you simply enter the price you are prepared to pay for the domain name, and walk away to get on with your business. When the auction closes at 2pm, you will see if you placed the highest offer, or hit the BIN price first. This also completely negates snipe bidding, which has been a common complaint and frustration for many of our clients.

We will publish that days prices from 2pm-3pm on our usual auction page, however once the new auction starts, we will only publish sales over $1,000. We think that publishing prices less than $1,000 may have a negative effect on the domain market, and as many of our clients have stated hurts potential resale opportunities. Our daily email will go out to all as usual, but include every domain sale for that day, so you will always have a record.

So, again these changes will come in to effect on 21st October when the auction reopens at 3pm (Sydney time), we hope you enjoy our latest trial of format.

Retirement of Aftermarket Auction https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/retirement-of-aftermarket-auction/ Tue, 24 Sep 2013 01:16:40 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=964 We have decided to retire our current Aftermarket Auction format after 12 months of hit and miss results and to focus our attention once again on the For Sale/Domain Catalogue option.

The format failed to achieve the objectives I set for it in October 2012. Even though it performed well on volume it never gained much traction in achieving prices comparable to the Offer / Counter offer process in the Domain Catalogue. We tried our best to increase the number of eyes seeing the auctions by merging them with the popular expired domain auctions but they still failed to gain significant traction.

I will be contacting sellers with current listings to discuss their options moving forwards after cancelling their listings. I will also assist any current buyers with bids on existing listings to make an offer to purchase from the seller before cancelling the listing.

We did notice a large volume of smaller sales so I will be re-introducing the “bargain basement” category to the For Sale / Domain Catalogue which will include any domains with a buy now price of < $101 for anyone looking to make a quick sale.

Fixed bid option is back! https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/domain-snapper/fixed-bid-option-is-back/ Tue, 13 Aug 2013 01:42:17 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=915 We have just re-introduced the fixed bid ability in the single domain view again, this time it is available in an optional format so you can place an initial fixed bid if you wish and a backup proxy bid above it too.

You’ll notice the Auctions page each domain now has a hyperlink to a single page view. This shows the domain broken down in to it’s simplest view, whilst having all the information you would ever require, just a short click away on the same page.

You can read about the different bid options here Bids and Offers on Netfleet.

We hope the return of this old feature works well for seasoned domain investors and new comers alike

Thanks
The Netfleet Team

Some figures on how the domain name aftermarket is faring. https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/some-figures-on-how-the-domain-name-aftermarket-is-faring/ https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/some-figures-on-how-the-domain-name-aftermarket-is-faring/#comments Fri, 01 Mar 2013 01:57:45 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=737 As we say goodbye to summer, we wanted to share some figures on how the domain name aftermarket is faring, particularly on Netfleet.

We’re happy to say that business is booming! In November, as you will know, we integrated our aftermarket domain auctions into our daily snapper auctions for expired domains. The rationale was that it seemed that the expired domain auctions were stealing the limelight when there were some great names being put up for sale by you, our members, that deserved more attention.

We also made it completely free to add reserves if your name is at Netfleet meaning there’s absolutely no risk in listing even your best domain names and testing the market.

These changes had an immediate impact. From a rather meager 29 aftermarket sales in October, we recorded 106 in November. The momentum held and December, January and February all showed strong monthly increases with the numbers of sales 188, 274 and 319 respectively.

Count of Aftermarket Sales

Whilst the auctions have proven to be the big driver for aftermarket sales, the standard listings have also seen a jump in activity albeit a bit later. From just 8 standard listing sales in December, we saw 21 in January and 23 in February. Importantly, the standard listing sales have consistently significantly achieved higher prices per domains with the total value of these 44 sales over the last two months amounting to $48,892.

Suffice to say that aftermarket domains have been booming. Conversely prices at our daily expired snapper auctions have been weak over the last few months. So, it certainly seems to be a buyers’ market on the expired domains and a sellers’ market for anyone holding premium Australian domains. So get your unused premium domains added to the auction or listed in the catalogue now and check out the bargains in today’s no reserve auction!

Anyway enough of the analysis, here is another graph to illustrate the sales. Please ask any questions or let us know your feedback in the comments below!

Free Aftermarket Auctions (with reserves) and Hot Leads https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/australian-domains/free-aftermarket-auctions-with-reserves-and-hot-leads/ Thu, 06 Sep 2012 08:06:33 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=667 Has the 4% listing fee for reserve prices on the Aftermarket Auctions been keeping you from listing your premium domains names?

We are now offering zero upfront cost Aftermarket Auctions (with reserve prices) if Netfleet.com.au is the registrar for the domain.

To Transfer your domains to Netfleet go to
https://www.netfleet.com.au/transfer.php

We have been running our current format of Aftermarket Auctions since November 2011 so I thought it was time to share some insights into what I have observed in the last 10 months.

  • There have been 850 completed sales, with a success rate just under 10%
  • 82% of the sales where by 10% of the sellers.
  • The most successful sales were the ones with no reserve
  • There seems to be a lack of marketing being undertaken by the sellers

To help you with identifying leads to better market your domain names we have also added links to websites which are actively marketing to the keywords contained in your domain names. Just go to

https://www.netfleet.com.au/ama.php

after you have your auctions up and running and click on the icon in the Leads column.

Just a reminder that Netfleet charges only 8% commission on sales from the Aftermarket Auctions and we handle all the invoicing on your behalf. We also offer the Change of Registrant process for cost price ($18.43) meaning you can make the most of your time and money.

Aftermarket Auctions Are Back! https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/aftermarket-auctions/aftermarket-auctions-are-back/ Mon, 07 Nov 2011 08:40:26 +0000 http://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/?p=518 Dear Friends,

We are pleased to announce the long awaited relaunch of our popular Aftermarket Auctions platform on Netfleet. Quite different from our previous platform, we now have the ability to run multiple auctions at any one time. What’s more, is that each seller is given the option to choose their own, unique URL displaying only their domain names for sale. Sellers can also choose the length each domain name will run for.

All auctions will feed in to our Aftermarket Auctions – Hot Domains as they approach the close of auction, plus we will include other ‘Hot Domains’ in this auction.

Another exciting addition to the Aftermarket Auctions is an extended bidding feature.   Essentially, any bid in the last 5 minutes for a domain name, will extend the auction for a further 5 minutes.    This hopefully is a great step to eradicate snipe bidding on the platform.

Further details on this can be found in our newly reorganised Support Centre which details importantly articles such as the How To Guide – Aftermarket Auctions and Terms & Conditions – Aftermarket Auctions

A further improvement is upon sale – the domain name will enter the Netfleet Assisted Sales process whereby we will help both buyer and seller complete the sale, including acting as an agent on behalf of the seller in selling their domain name, receiving funds, monitoring change of registrant, and subsequently releasing funds.   Further details on this can be found in the How To Guide – Netfleet Assisted Sales and Terms & Conditions – Netfleet Assisted Sales

Please let us know if you come across any bugs, or have any questions on the whole process

All the best,

The Netfleet Team
