After a few weeks we’re back with all the latest auction news from Netfleet, as we bring you the premium domain sales for the period 6th June to 26th June.
With the highest sale, lotto.net.au took out the top spot, and in the process, became the 35th highest selling domain of all time exchanged through Netfleet.com.au. Selling back on the 17th of June for $13,249.45, the sale was also our 4th highest for a “.net” domain. With strong keyword and SEO appeal associated with the name, the domain was acquired by Lotto Logic Limited, a UK based lottery broker and also the trademark owner.
Looking closer at the domain, it’s easy to see where the domain’s significant value and liquidity are derived. Each month, an average of 201,000 Australians search for the term “lotto” via Google. Not only does this signify there is a vast market for lotto businesses, it demonstrates there is an abundance of potential web traffic and customers should the owner be able to maximise its SEO efforts.
Our second highest selling domain was sold on the 7th of June, with great.com.au trading hands for a final sum of $2,106.45. With its value heightened by a memorable name and a notable degree of versatility, the word “great” is searched 720 times per month via Australian users of Google. The long term trend also shows a steady search volume for this term, with an equal distribution across the nation.
As the third-best selling domain for the 3 weeks ending 26th of June, esafe.com.au was acquired for $1,149.45. The new owner, a sole trader who currently operates a web design and mobile development business, will be pleased by the short yet descriptive nature of the domain. The domain is currently being used as a redirect to the longer domain of a privately-owned, electrical compliance service company, eSafe Services Pty Ltd. It’s unclear whether the two businesses are related, however, such activity shows the demand for a domain that can be associated with multiple uses – in this case, either web development, ecommerce or electrical services, and paired with safety or cyber security.
Rounding out the remaining premium domain names, one of our regular customers, a private domain investment company, purchased two domains on the 25th of June. The two domains in question were rep.com.au and curve.com.au, each selling for a final fee of $1,013.05.
The former, rep.com.au, is supported by a descriptive name that can be used as an acronym, or as an abbreviation for longer words – such as representative, reputation and so forth. As such, the domain offers flexibility for its eventual end user, which is likely to boost demand and strengthen its value. Also supporting the domain’s liquidity is search data that shows Australians search for the term “rep” 1,600 times per month.
The second of the two domains, curve.com.au, currently operates with a Cost-Per-Click in Adwords of $0.86. This figure is lower than the search network benchmarks across all industries bar that regarding ‘dating and personals’. Additionally, 6,600 unique searches are made each month by Australians looking for the word “curve”, which also offers users a name that is likely to be remembered by customers. All up, a very astute purchase.
That’s it for this occasion, stay tuned for the latest updates in our next post.
